The Dnipro State Medical University was founded on September 15, 1916 from the Ekaterynoslavsky higher female courses Institute. The Institute acquired the status of State Academy in 1920 and it became the Dnipro State Medical University (DSMU) in Ukraine in 1994.

Overview
Dnipro State Medical University is a government institution affiliated with the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, and is one of the most highly recognized institutions in the medical education in Ukraine. It is a widely known center for the teaching of medicine and science, both at our home country and abroad.
Throughout its history spanning over a hundred years, the Academy has strived to become one of the largest modern medical institutions in Ukraine.
Long-term fruitful work has resulted in the development of solid traditions in the field of highly qualified specialist trainers who make the prestige of our science schools. The Academy has a system of measures aimed at high-quality medical professional education, scientific research in experimental and clinical medicine, exploration of new medical technologies, as well as diagnostics and implementation of treatments.
The practice of medical services as well as success in the field of medical science cannot be envisaged, for a young doctor, without a daily work of a high degree of responsibility. Their graduates are an honor for the health system of their Academy; since the founding of our institution, more than 50,000 specialists have obtained their diplomas there.
