Overview
The Dnipropetrovsk Institute of Railway Transport Engineers (DIIT) was founded in Dnipropetrovsk on the basis of the Polytechnic and the Faculty of Railway Engineers of the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. Created in the center of the metallurgical industry of Ukraine and a large railway junction, the institute in a short time has developed the training of qualified specialists.
During the first five-year plan, students, teachers, workers and employees built an educational building, a dormitory, a dining room and residential buildings. For 3-4 years a cozy institute town was arranged.
At that time, the institute had 62 teachers, including 5 professors and 12 associate professors, however, many years later, it now hosts around 15K students from all over with hundreds of associate professors and educators.
